The autumn equinox has arrived, and Maximillian’s Sunflower is just popping into bloom. This perennial sunflower produces many dozens of blossoms on tall stalks every year. Always a welcome sign of fall, it offers sustenance to all sorts of pollinators. And as late as it is, it is not the latest–there are a few other fall bloomers just starting or still waiting in the wings.
Fall is not only a great time to plant perennials, but also a great time to appreciate the abundance of nature.
